This first map displays a live data feed from the USGS of global earthquake activity. The USGS offers multiple live feeds of earthquake activity, including options for time-frames and magnitude. For this map, I selected earthquakes that occurred in the past seven days and were rated at a magnitude 4.5 or above.
This second map displays the live camera feeds from NOAA buoys. The buoy icons represent individual stations, and most are equipped with cameras. Clicking on the icon reveals photos as well as details regarding the station's location, and the date and time the photos were taken. In the event of a major earthquake, a tsunami could be triggered and it would be useful to be able to monitor buoys to determine wave height and other sea activity.
